Day 11: four explosive quarterfinals on the schedule

Wednesday's schedule on Court Philippe-Chatrier promises fireworks with four quarterfinals on the slate, two in the women's draw and two in the men's. First up at 11am: Anna Kalinskaya takes on Maja Chwalinska, the Polish sensation of this fortnight.

Chwalinska is the first qualifier to reach the Grand Slam quarterfinals since 2020. At 24, she is playing in only her third Major main draw and becomes the fourth Polish woman in the Open Era to reach this stage, joining Radwanska, Swiatek and Linette. Kalinskaya, who came from behind against Potapova to claim her first Paris quarterfinal, will try to halt the fairytale.

The second women's match pits world number one Aryna Sabalenka against left-hander Diana Shnaider, who knocked out Madison Keys in the previous round. Sabalenka is chasing a fifteenth consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal and has yet to drop a set this tournament. Shnaider's power game, however, presents a different challenge.

In the mid-afternoon slot, fourth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime faces Flavio Cobolli for a semifinal berth. The Canadian has never reached this stage at Roland-Garros and carries a 0-2 head-to-head deficit against the Italian from 2024. However, Auger-Aliassime has steadily improved through the draw, from a five-set battle in round one to a dominant 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 win over Tabilo in the fourth round.

The night session at 8:15pm features the all-Italian derby between Matteo Berrettini and Matteo Arnaldi. Arnaldi is coming off an epic 5-hour 26-minute battle against Frances Tiafoe, while Berrettini has advanced steadily. Neither has reached the Roland-Garros semifinals, and only one will claim that milestone tonight.

Remarkably, no former Grand Slam singles champion remains among the eight men's quarterfinalists. The title is wide open.
