Kitzbühel: Bublik into semis, Halys continues Austrian run

Thursday delivered a packed schedule on European clay, with quarterfinal action in Kitzbühel and last-16 results in Estoril producing clear winners and one notable upset.

Alexander Bublik, the top seed in Kitzbühel, dispatched Alex Molcan 6-3, 6-2 in just over an hour. The Kazakh will face Yannick Hanfmann in the semi-finals after the German produced an equally dominant display against Sebastian Baez, winning 6-3, 6-1 despite the Argentine's clay-court pedigree.

In the bottom half, fourth seed Tomás Etcheverry overcame fifth seed Ionel Buse 6-2, 7-5, setting up a semi-final clash with Quentin Halys. The Frenchman earned his spot with a composed 7-5, 6-3 win over Mariano Navone, extending an impressive run as the world number 110.

In Estoril, Andrey Rublev demolished Timofey Skatov 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 16. The top seed looks sharp on clay ahead of the North American hard-court swing. Second seed Luciano Darderi was equally ruthless, dismantling Pedro Martinez 6-0, 6-1.

The standout result came from Luca Van Assche, who knocked out eighth seed Pablo Carreno-Busta in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. The 22-year-old Frenchman now faces Rublev in the quarterfinals.

At the WTA Prague Open, Barbora Krejcikova, the second seed and reigning Wimbledon champion, advanced past Havlickova 6-4, 6-2. Third seed Sara Bejlek thrilled the home crowd with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Timofeeva. The upset of the day came from Lanlana Tararudee, who saved two match points to edge fourth seed Bartunkova 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-6(6) in a thrilling encounter.
