Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend left no doubt about their standing as the world''s best doubles team. On Court Philippe-Chatrier, the top seeds captured the 2026 Roland Garros women''s doubles title with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic in one hour and thirty-two minutes.
The first set tilted in the champions'' favour in the fifth game, when Townsend struck a crosscourt backhand winner to break serve. Five consecutive games later, Siniakova saved two break points to close out the set 6-2 in thirty-three minutes.
The second set told a different story. Danilina and Krunic, the second seeds, seized control and built a 4-1 lead, putting the favourites under genuine pressure. Townsend responded with relentless baseline aggression, forcing errors from their opponents. After four unsuccessful attempts, the world''s top-ranked pair converted their fifth break point to claw back to 4-3. The turning point came at 5-5: Townsend saved a break point with a decisive overhead before Siniakova sealed the hold with a crisp volley. A final break and a love service game completed the comeback.
This Paris triumph carries special significance for both players. For Siniakova, it marks her fourth Roland Garros women''s doubles title following wins in 2018 and 2021 with Barbora Krejcikova, then 2024 with Coco Gauff. The Czech player now holds eleven Grand Slam doubles titles and thirty-seven career trophies, surpassing Sara Errani and Hsieh Su-wei on the all-time list.
For Townsend, a heartbroken finalist in Paris in 2023 alongside Leylah Fernandez, this victory represents her third major title. The American paid tribute to their partnership during the trophy ceremony, thanking Siniakova "for being a friend before being a teammate."
Together, Siniakova and Townsend boast a 27-2 record in 2026 with seven titles, including three Grand Slams. Their only loss in a major final came at the 2025 US Open. In the Paris semifinals, they demolished fourth seeds Dabrowski and Stefani 6-0, 6-1, underlining their dominance on tour. Both players retain the top two spots in the WTA Finals Race.
