Estoril, Prague, Hamburg: Saturday semi-final lineups take shape

Friday's action across three European tournaments reshaped the draws and set the stage for a packed Saturday of semi-finals.

In Estoril, beyond Luca Van Assche's stunning upset of Andrey Rublev, the remaining quarterfinals produced their own drama. Hugo Gaston ended the fairy-tale run of Portuguese wild card Tiago Torres, ranked 427th, with a clinical 6-3, 6-4 victory. The Frenchman will meet Van Assche in a rare all-French ATP semi-final. In the bottom half, Luciano Darderi rallied past Jaime Faria 2-6, 7-5, 6-2, recording his tour-leading 22nd clay-court win of 2026. The Italian faces Alexander Blockx, who edged Roman Andres Burruchaga 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in a tight contest.

The semi-final lineup is unexpected: no seeded player remains among the four survivors. With Rublev eliminated, Darderi is the only former favourite still standing, though in a section of the draw devoid of other seeds.

At the Prague Open, the quarterfinals delivered two expected results and one major upset. Barbora Krejcikova, the second seed, booked her semi-final spot with a composed 6-2, 6-4 win over Dominika Salkova, maintaining her consistent form since winning Wimbledon. Austrian Lilli Tagger upset third seed Sara Bejlek 6-4, 6-4 to earn a showdown with Krejcikova. In the other half, Tereza Valentova overturned top seed Marie Bouzkova 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) in a dramatic three-setter, surviving a decisive tiebreak. Daria Snigur completed the last four with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win over Lanlana Tararudee.

In Hamburg, Mayar Sherif, riding momentum from her quarterfinal win over Paula Badosa, will face Anna Bondar in the semi-finals. Elina Avanesyan advanced in the bottom half.

Saturday's schedule is loaded. The day begins with the Generali Open final in Kitzbuhel, where defending champion Alexander Bublik takes on Quentin Halys, who is chasing his maiden ATP title. Semi-finals in Estoril, Prague and Hamburg will complete an exceptional day to close out the final week of European clay.
