Strasbourg, the Jovic show: the 18-year-old American produced a dominant display against Emma Navarro, sweeping her compatriot 6-1, 6-4 in under 75 minutes. Jovic, firmly established in the WTA top 20, will face the winner of Zhang vs Parry in the quarterfinals. Earlier in the day, Kasatkina dispatched Stearns 6-1, 6-3 to reach the last eight as well.
Hamburg, Humbert's frustration: the Frenchman led by a set against Khachanov before falling 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) in a dramatic encounter. The Russian will face the winner of Auger-Aliassime vs Kovacevic in the quarterfinals. De Minaur was also in action against Davidovich Fokina, in a match that promised to be tight given their even 3-3 head-to-head record.
