Mboko dispatched France's Lois Boisson 6-4, 6-3 on Court Patrice Dominguez. Thursday's quarterfinal will be only the second meeting between the two Canadians. Their first clash came in last year's Hong Kong semifinals, where Mboko rallied from a set down to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. That precedent suggests another intense showdown between two players with complementary styles: Mboko's explosive power as the youngest member of the world's top 10, against Fernandez's clay-court savvy and trademark resilience.
