In Geneva, the Gonet Geneva Open quarterfinals feature the survivors of a devastating second round. Learner Tien, who dispatched Stefanos Tsitsipas the day before, takes on Alex Michelsen in an all-American clash between two 20-year-olds. Alexei Popyrin, who upset top seed Taylor Fritz, faces Casper Ruud, the 2022 Roland-Garros finalist. Mariano Navone meets Jaume Munar and Alexander Bublik draws Arthur Rinderknech. Four quarterfinals dominated by the next generation.

In Strasbourg, the tournament is heating up. Jaqueline Cristian reached the semifinals, her first in a WTA 500 event, by defeating Daria Kasatkina. Ann Li also advanced to the last four by beating Marie Bouzkova 6-3, 7-5, securing her first semifinal on clay. The all-Canadian clash between Victoria Mboko and Leylah Fernandez and the quarterfinal between Shuai Zhang and Emma Navarro round out a strong field.

On the qualifying front at Roland-Garros, the final round delivers its verdict. Sloane Stephens, a former finalist in 2018, faces Spain's Leyre Romero Gormaz for a spot in the main draw. Tamara Zidansek and Martina Trevisan, both former Paris semifinalists, are also in contention. Intertwined fates that underscore the ruthlessness of elite tennis, where even the most decorated records guarantee nothing.

The countdown is on. Sunday, 128 men and women will step onto the courts at Porte d'Auteuil for the second Grand Slam of the season.
